Whey Protein on Off Days?19274

I'm wondering how much Whey Protein it is recommended to consume while bulking on a day when you don't train.

I currently take 60g on a training day and don't take any on days off.

What's recommended while Bulking?

I monitor my Macros on Off Days, but am unsure about Whey.

I would not totally rely on whey protein for your protein source. I would only use it if you are not able to get to a reliable food source like chicken, eggs, beef, etc. To answer your question stick with .8-1 gram of protein per lb of LEAN body mass. I would not change your macro or calories on off days due to your body recovering.

Don't get me wrong i am not saying protein powders are necessarily bad, but use the other sources if available. I use powders because i coach and can only bring so much food and having some powder on me can help.

^^ agree with the above. Neither muscle protein synthesis, nor gastrointestinal transit are that linear, and neither reset for “off days.” -3X
