I watched all the dave tate benching videos and the one thing iv always done is retract my scap, but in the vid he says to retract the scap and keeep the upper back tight while also trying to push your shoulder blades down, I find when I do this I loose my tightness in my upper back, am i trying to push to far down or over thinking it? Any advice would be appreciated

Forcing the shoulder blade down is an other cue to get lat tighness other than bend the bar.

I found that when I use the cue trying to pull the bar apart, this automatically activates my lats and upper back and keeps them tight while also helping me keep my elbows tucked in. Then All I have to do is just drive my back into the bench which keeps my scapula retreated.
