Brandon_12, EK and Cannonball bench comp9694

Cannonball private msg quote post Address this user
So we are doing a challenge to see who can increase their bench by the most from april 24th to august 24th. Competition rules, so my max in that I guesstimate to 330 lbs @ 160

We are doing glossbrenner formula, so my points are 105.675 atm. Most increase in points win! I'll leave Brandon and EK to present their stats themselves.

Vid and IPF/USAPL rules required.

I might actually get weaker, because I dont know if I could actually lift 330 with a pause, but we'll see

Admire Brandon for taking up the challenge but am I right in saying he weighs more than you cannon and has a max of under 250?

Correct. Also doesnt matter, it is the increase that matters, not how much we actually bench.

And will certainly be playing the best music in his video.

Too strict isn't the best form, EK himself will tell you that. The best form is what you can get away with at a meet and lift the most. JFYI^^

I'm not sure I'd say "what you can get away with." There's what the judges see based on "what you get away with," and there's what you know to be true deep down inside about your own power and limitations. The two are not always synonymous.

I'd never want to leave a meet having beaten someone I know is stronger than me, simply because I had better form. That seems wrong to me. -3X

It's not wrong. Powerlifting isn't always about strength. Sometimes people win just because of tactics when choosing weights.

@Cannonball I understand you feel that way. IMO, it's wrong. Holding a first place trophy doesn't make you the person with the most power. Having the most power makes you the person with the most power. -3X

Both statements are agreeable. Competition and winning is all about who is the best along with who has the best strategy as well. If EK does not want to win with strategy and cheat others so to say more power to him. Both statements are correct IMO just comes down to the person I guess.

Aye. But winning is winning and power is power; if you want to demonstrate power, go do FU bench or dumbbell press. Don't get me wrong: I WISH powerlifting was about pure power, I've lost because someone weaker have had a better arch, I've lost because of bitchy "lowering the weights midlift" rules (who gives a shit), and I've seen one of my best friends lose because the guy who won changed his weight last minute so my friend got rushed in to lift before he was ready. But that's the game of powerlifting, aint nothing to do but to play it.

I think it's 6, maybe 7. First was october 2010, did 120 @ 65, next was january 2011, did 117.5 lol, then may 2011, did 125, that was all small meets, then senior raw nationalship august 2011, won with 127.5 kg, next was sub-junior championships in november 2011, won with 127.5 (which was lift nr 1, was so far ahead the others that I couldnt be fucked to try on the next ones, I mean I wanted to lift more but I couldnt focus), then I lifted again in december, did 132.5@65.8 which was a new record, then I competed again in the raw championships 2012, got red lights on the two first lifts because it was too heavy, and gave up, so 0 kg on that. Makes 7, right?
