Best for chest DEVELOPMENT6175

Recent research from Las Vegas based StrengthPro Inc., headed by David Sandler, MS, CSCS, showed that the dumbbell bench press involves the front delts far less than the barbell press, since the arms come out to the sides more with dumbbells. Less delt involvement means more pec stimulation, which is exactly what you want for maximal chest development

Gonna stick to db for a about 6 months.

bench press is better for overall mass of the fram than db bench press as you use more muscles but if chest is really a weak point then yeah ise db and use flyes at the end

You could probably get more benefits out of using a barbell though ? With bars you could add a kilo or two every few weeks, gradually adding weight, & also mass while doing so. I don't know about in the countries that use the Imperial system but with dumbbells here you have to jump up five kilos every time you want to progress, and five kilos is a lot of weight imo.

I have only ever used DB's for all chest work, I thought for greater movement to hit every fibre possible. I recently stopped doing incline db press as I felt I was barely hitting chest but fully working front delts. I read an article (I think on here) about flat and also decline bench working the chest better over all. I alternate between flat and decline bench for pressing and flys. I feel at the moment this works better for me, perhaps it is just the change ??

everyone is different, different exercises with work better for different people. also if you do barbell more often, your delts probably are used to it and can coop with more weight so you still get the stim.

^This. I feel like everything is so individual. People see great results doing totally different things. Its very personal; The only constants I find is intensity and consistency.

That's BS...you hear people say this kind of BS about their diet too. 99% of the time its because they are doing shit the wrong way or are not commited 100%.

"ya I eat everything and I still don't gain weight"...BS your still not eating enough!

"ya I did flat BB press for 5 years and my chest didn't grow"...BS! That's because you did 3x12x155lb for the last 5 years and "ate everything"

Excuses...GTFO

Yes, dumbbells are easier to focus your tension with.

Like some people, how ever long they work on it, can never get desired chest activation from barbells.
But with dumbbells, it's really easy.

Only problem with dumbbells, is that you can't overload for very long.

I for example have 7,5 kg left until I'v maxed out my gym's DB's... sad

I'd have to say for chest DEVELOPMENT definitely go DB! But over all power and upper body mass go BB. Boat should be included regularly.
