Will I be progressing?5642

I'm switching routines to PHAT, I'm going to start training like Layne says 1-2 reps shy of failure, will I still progress on my first week even though I've dropped a few reps from each set? There's a lot more volume for each muscle than what I'm doing now so will that make up for it? Just wanted to know 'cause if I ain't going to progress I'll eat at maintenance 'till next week

I don't get it. First you say there are less reps per sets than what u are used to. After that, you say PHAT has more volume than what you're doing. There's a small contradiction here.

Anyway, despite that, there will be a week or two of adaptation, PHAT is a different training style that requires going for power, not only high rep ranges.

In your position, i would continue eating to get a caloric surplus.

But need some more info here. What are you currently doing? what are your goals?

I meant I would be doing less reps each set, say I'm on the hypertrophy day benching or something, I do 10 reps on the routine I'm on now, but on PHAT I end the set a rep or two short of failure so I'd do 8-9 does that make sense?
Currently doing a full body 3x a week called Allpro's. Hypertrophy

just adjust your weights (dont be afraid of lowering them) to hit the rep ranges layne says
