Sleep schedule and bulking?18132

Hey,

I've been training for a while and I have a problem with sleeping properly.

I am unable to sleep 8 hours in a row.

But I sleep for 4 hours and then 3 hours afterwards.

Could this sabotage gains?

Are you generally feeling tired, since your sleep pattern changed?

Yes. RIP gains. It's been scientifically proven that every hour, under 8 hours of sleep, reduces gains by approximately 12%.

Not at all. I don't reach REM sleep I believe, but I still never feel tired.

A sleep cycle usually lasts around 1,5 hour, after which it repeats itself, so you should be entering the REM sleep stage several times.

But if you don't feel noticeably tired, then you're not really having a problem. The recommendations for sleep, typically 7-8 hours, don't need to be in one go, but obviously each bout should be sufficient in length to get through multiple full sleep cycles, so sleeping, for example, 16x30 mins per 24 hours, or 8x1hour is obviously not good
