How long is the leap from 40kg to 60kg bench17978

Currently my 5x5 bench press is stuck at 40kg flat.

I started from 20kg 2 months ago, so this is good progress I guess.

Anyhow, I want to improve to 60kg sometime soon.

How long will it generally take, and what is a routine for maximizing bench press?

I bench 2x a week, once with 5x5 and once 4x8, I am adding flat dumbbell presses to each routine again 3x10 both days.

Yup, I could barely bench the bar. I began with benching the bar and after 5 reps I couldn't do more.

So I have double my lift already, but it is still very low.

I have a feeling that alot of people look straight towards solely the lack-of-muscle part of having a weak lift.

On the other hand, when i see people struggle with improving a lift, mostly when it is considered "low'ish" weight, then the form they have in the movement is often very very awkward.

Obviously, to improve your bench, you need to train and eat, but i would put my money on claiming, that for you to go from 40 to 60kg in the shortest amount of time, you need to become more technically effective in the movement. This means you should probably take learning proper technique very seriously. It'll help you push more weight, have steadier/more predictable gains, and reduce risk of injury.

My bench went from 60 for reps to 75 in 5 months. And my 1 rep max is 100.
