School barbell and military press16577

Hambo private msg quote post Address this user
Is school barbell sufficiently long to be used in power cage?

Can you perform military press seated?

Thanks.

Performing the military press in a seated position takes the legs out of the equation and places the emphasis more on the shoulder area.

Your legs shouldn't be doing anything unless your doing a push press otherwise your just cheating. It takes out core stability not leg work

I agree with it minimising core stability but you will be surprised the amount of people do a standing military press and use their legs without knowing or realising it.

@theoneandonly Then it's not a Military Press... a standing military press involves no leg drive. A push press involves leg drive.

Like I said, that's just cheating

@Perfidy @Hamer93 I realise what you are both saying and am fully aware of the difference. It is just what I have observed other folk doing. Hence why I said by doing a seated military press it stops them from inadvertently using their legs.

If you have a hard time not using your legs when doing strict press.

don't sit.

fix that shit.

or sit... cause why not.

@Hamer93 @SOLARSUPLEX without doing a pushpress, if you don't contract legs and glutes you won't be stable and your OHP will be a little weaker. It's like the leg drive on bench press. Overall stable fondation will provide more power! Without getting a momentum like the push press.

My 2 cents.
