Opinions? Likes? Dislikes? Substitute deads or use as secondary? I'm thinking of trying it out

Opinion: Eh, people can do what they want haha.

Likes: You can lift more weight, supposedly safer (read it a few times) because of where the weight is centered.

Dislikes: Nothing to compare it to. I'm no power lifter, but at least I can compare my deadlift to others. Saying you can hex bar deadlift 500lb means nothing to me. And it feels way more bad ass lifting a barbel that bends.

@Beans yea, from what I've read it's supposedly safer on the spine. Seen one in my gym, but NO ONE uses it lol

@dserious111 They get used in my gym fairly often. Usually by beginners working with trainers or random clowns. Not that they are a bad thing, lifting more weight in a safe way is great. I don't have much experience, haven't used one in years.

It can be used as an
Acessory movement for deads. It is similar to dead lifting off 4 inch blocks.

Seen it primarily used by athletes, especially football programs.
The motion (with bands) feels really close to a jumping movement (triple extension-ish) if done properly. It's fun.

Other than that, they're awesome for farmer's walks.

Have used one since January ,I prefer straight bar over hex, but after a injury it let me still deadlift. A different feel from straight bar. Feel it less in my back

this depends on where you grip the handles, my gym has 2 handles one raised and one bar height . handles up = block pulls, handles down normal depth

Tryed the hex bar once when i could deadlift and i loved it, it felt more "natural" and i would have used it if my gym back then would have had it.
