Lifting gear necessary?15935

dserious111 private msg quote post Address this user
I'm still fairly new to lifting. Only going on 2 years. But my question...is lifting gear such as belts, wrist straps etc necessary? Should I invest in them? Do you use any? I see people all the time using the belts, just wanted to know opinions.

No, they aren't necessary. They can be useful as tools if you want to use them, just don't let them become a crutch.

@WinnersNeverQuit oh ok thx. I have a friend who gets geared up to the max. I never saw the point, unless you're cautious of injury

After 2 years of lifting, the only thing i've invested money on were oly shoes and chalk. Oh, foam rollers and resistance bands assuming your gym doesn't have some.

Took me 7 years just to get chalk, knee sleeves, and shoes that I only use for squats. I've thought about getting a belt, but very rarely go anywhere lower than 3RM, and have never felt a need for it.
