I have to say I don't think the study above by Lyle is fair but I don't know exactly what he was trying to prove. I would never expect a crossfit person to be as strong or stronger than an Olympic lifter or a guy who trains for strength.

I would also not expect the olympic lifters or the powerlifters to be able to keep up with the crossfit people endurance wise.

OL are very strong and so are PL's. That is their goal.

A crossfit person wants to be a jack of all trades but a master of none.

I don't think you can compare the two.

What he's trying to show (I believe) is that stength training has more carryover to other things and do well at it (in this case strength endurance) where as people who train to be good at everything will not fair quite so well. In this case it is true but in others (eg gymnastics, agility) I don't think it to be true.
