ezvmoneybeast private msg quote post Address this user
Hands are getting infested of calluses but I don't mind. Should I work more forearm to get a better grip of the bar on deadlift. Last reps the bar is always on my fingertips

My grips improved from doing hanging leg raises. My grip always gives out before my abs do

Well you have two options...

1) Work on grip strength (Farmer Walk, Forearm curls etc)

2) Wrist Straps

Hold a heavy dumbell in each hand for as long as you can like 50/60kg ones. A good one already suggested is farmers walks.

Farmers walks.
Staggered grip.
Chalk.
Deadlift more.

Farmers walk with 45lb plates. Pinch the edge of the plates to carry it instead of using DB's and just gripping it normally.

Deadlifts in 5/3/1 sorted my grip right out. Those amrap sets did my grip wonders. Higher rep deadlifts.

I also do pull-ups and chin-ups gripping with my fingertips, like to my second knuckle, instead of gripping the bar with the meat of my hand.

EDIT: you could also Hook-Grip, but it takes some getting used to.

Just load the bar up with as much weight as you can bear and hold the bar as long as possible.

Do this at the end of your workout as a finisher of sorts.

This will also hit the lower abs, upper abs, middle abs, upper chest, obliques and most importantly your grip.

It will work everything. Trust me.

there are actually two ways I have done this.

One hold the bar as long as you can. Two, set a time goal of 20 or 30 seconds and aim to hit that.

It helps if someone else is watching the stopwatch.

Also, I strongly recommend doing the farmers walk.

Was deadlifting like only 185x5 my very first month of lifting.. Used double overhand. First thing to fail was always grip.

Was doing starting strength, still am. Anyways added an arm day, mostly for grip strength. Forearm curls, neutral grip pullups, hammer curls, farmers walks.

After a few weeks, deadlifts no longer failing due to my weak grip strength. Deadlifting a hell of a lot more than a measly 185 now because i worked on grip

Also my buddy suggested using only double overhand because it would help increase my grip and be safer for my biceps. Not sure how true it is but my grip increased significantly over 5 months.

Do you do these? Had my 2nd time doing them yesterday and went upto 200kg. Really enjoying them and hoping I can get some decent weight going with them. Doing these and climbing more I think will help my grip massively.

Not sure really, I have a video though, me and my mate were just testing them out.yhink i read to do 30-50meters we just do 2 ofthese as oneset Hopefully it'll be something we progress with. My grip isn't the greatest and these seem a fun way to train it.

Cheers Ek, what do the dumbbells go upto at your gym? I'm pretty lucky with the gym I go to, it has farmers walks, log press, 85 and 110kg atlas stones and the dumbbells go upto 75kgs.

I wonder how they would be with two barbells. Obviously harder to get off the ground and you'd likely piss off other gym members but I reckon It'd be decent. Farmers walk equipment is actually pretty cheap so you could have a word with your gym about getting some in also.
