Can YOU Dunk?11895

MaksPtheTRUTH private msg quote post Address this user
Hey whats up bros. I just wanted to know if any of you could dunk a basketball. I used to never be able to dunk a basketball but after training for 12 weeks I could dunk. Weights and Plyometrics do wonders.

Here is a video I made of my progress for any of you guys that want to dunk and can only touch the rim.

Everyone has the potential to dunk.

Are you sure everyone has the potential to dunk? I would think some people are just not cut out for it. I can dunk, but I am also 6'3 and played basketball since childhood.

I have seen great results with a mixture of half and full squats. I feel as if fast half squats create more reactive ability for you which is greatly needed in the vertical jump.

I could easily dunk if the basket was placed a bit lower

@MaksPtheTRUTH how tall are you?

I've been working on my VJ and broad jump for a couple weeks now. Doing mostly squats and DLs and practice jumps.

How does your running vertical (off 1 or 2 feet) compare to your VJ from standing still?

I am 6'1" I can grab rim from standstill. I used to be strictly a one leg jumper but since I started working out more of my upper body I became a two leg jumper (strength jumper) Now I focus more in two leg jumping and my next goal is to dunk from standstill.

If I can parallel squat 385 pounds than I should be able to dun from stand still.

Check out the routine I posted in reply above. You will see good results.

It's wierd... I lol'ed when I watched the vid but then I started wondering if maybe I trained a little bit to dunk if I could do it. Just because I'm 6 ft and never dunked before. I feel like I've missed a part of my life.

The coolest dunking videos I've ever seen are ones by "The Dunk Father" on youtube. That guy is maybe 5'9/5'10. Really cool.
