FiremanSi private msg quote post Address this user
Found this video awhile back.
I found it hit on some good pointer i used to arch my back too much personally when doing sumo's.
Some ancillary work ideas at the end of the video to help improve explosiveness and core strength.

i simply cant do conventional without back pains because of my long feet

@leanr0x What do long feet have to do with Pulling Conventional?

I think Pulling Conv would be a better way to improve your Sumo, more than sumo is going to help conv... If thats what you're meaning.

I tried those sumos for awhile. Anyone else feel like they are just going to slip into doing the splits at some point during the lift? Feels really unstable man

@SwoleAnimal No mate i think ur stance may have been too wide.
Elliot hulse and a few others say sumo's are the build ur to conventinal.. When u get comfortable doing them then the next step in ur deadlifting in Conventional.
Personally i love conventionals but my lower back isn't strong enough for them yet so using sumo's good mornings and hypers to build up to doing conventionals in the future.

SUMO is going to transfer more into the squat then a conventional will into a squat.

If you look at professionals who pull sumo their squat numbers are relatively pretty close to each other.

I havent got the idea yet: why are sumos beneficial when comparing to conventionals?

@fLx_ Helps develop hip hinge and lower back involvement, also involveds quads and takes a little stress of the hams and glutes, before conventionals which are more ham, glute and lower back dominant.

So if u think u lack in ham power, they will not benefit u right?

this! I find the hip hinge movement hard and this has helped.
I simply can't do deadlifts due to weak back, long legs and poor mobility but I can sort of sumo and I can feel and see a big difference. The hamstrhngs get worked well too.

No it definately hits hams and glutes.. cause as the bar comes past ur knees the idea is to thrust hips forward until lockout, the movement just doesnt hit hams and glutes AS HARD as conventionals. IMO.

@4real Thanks man just watched it on Youtube.. doesn't paint the best image of him, i get what he's saying but sounds a little like he felt he wasnt getting attention. I'd give anything to watch a guy like ronnie train in person... he should be thankful for the oppertunity.
