Stronglifts 5x5, does it work?10837

Hey guys, I'm sure most of you have come across or heard about strong lifts 5x5 where an individual focuses their attention on compound movements

Like bench press, deadlift, squat, overhead press etc.

I would like to know your thoughts on this and if you have incorporated this program to your training and would like to share your experience.

Thanks.

Any program designed by a pro works if you put in the time! 5x5 has a great reputation and I love the concept -- focusing on compound lifts. I wish I had adopted the plan when I started out.

I'm doing it currently. It's really worth a shot.

I do 5x5 DL's once a week and 5x5 Bench and squat twice a week, whilst also doing 5x5 pullups 3x a week. With this i also do my normal hypertrophy routine.

In about a month, i have gone from a 120 squat to a 140 squat, have yet to test the other two.

Doing it right now; have added 12.5lb on each of my major lifts at 5 reps after about a month.

Highly recommend it!

Imo the routine is pretty boring cause I like variety in my training. A friend of mine is doing it for 9 weeks by now and he squats like 100 kg by now and he doesn't have any lifting experience so it deffo works!

hey, I've been trying to incorporate hypeptrophy work into my 5x5 (just additional compound lift 3setsx10-12 reps). What is your template? Would love to hear what others do and maybe smooch off it.

I do 3days on, 1 day off repeat.
its a 6day cycle.
Its an advanced program i wouldnt ssuggest anyone do who hasnt been lifting MINIMUM 2yrs.
Push pull legs (strength days)
Day off
Push pull legs(Hypertrophy)

strength days my first exercise is 5x5,3x3 or 4x4. the rest of the exercises are 8-12reps.
Hypertrophy days all exercises different than strength days and 8-20rep ranges !!

So if ur a beginner don't try this program.
