Rinsing mouth with sugarwater? Corevar 8 4 yearsGetFitGoFigure (121): I have come across this info several years ago as it can, as you say, trick the body into thinking it has gotten energy. Actually, I find this to be effective when I am running a race or really lifting hard. Your body tells you ahead of time that you are out of energy when really you are not yet. You can actually push yourself so much more. What do I do: I suck on a hard candy during races (hoping I dont' choke). But, when I lift, I actually...

Sugar? faina00 2 6 yearseknight (58109): It shouldn't be an obstacle, but in terms of quality, it's not a "first choice." My last cut, I allotted my carbs for the day and tried to fill them with more substantial foods (breads, pasta, rice, potatoes, fruits, yogurt) but if at the end of the day, I had a ton of carbs left over and needed to consume something easy to meet them, I never hesitated to have a Pepsi or something similar. I just didn't "plan" high sugar...

Should we avoid sugar? Hiiibbbb 11 6 yearsMrMailliw (4494): I drink loads of chocolate milk and will visit the sweet bakery section of my local shop if I am behind on calories. As long as all of my food isn't like that and I get my fibre (as mentioned) and nutrition from fruit and veg then I'm fine. IIFYM basically...
How much sugar is TOO MUCH per day? ajm87 12 6 yearswannabemuscular (33216): @JordanW But those are nutrient dense foods that bring great value to your diet/nutrition. Of course they should be part of ones diet. Plain old sugar as an additive to sweets, sodas, gainers, etc. adds nothing to a good diet except empty calories. Should be limited. And btw, this is the kind of participation that people want to see you do more of. Good stuff.

What is sugar ? samirsaleh 28 6 yearsskullay (4036): What exactly is so bad about sugar? Do you have a general guideline for maximum sugar consumption? For example, I try to not get more than 10% of my calories from saturated fats to avoid adverse health effects. I don't have a guideline like this for sugar though.

Sugar can affect your T-levels ??? T or F. FiremanSi 27 6 yearsDukenhiemer (23938): EK, I may have asked you this before, what is your philosophy on hypertrophy from heavy lifting? Obviously, there is not enough tut for sarcoplasmic hypertrophy to occur. But then how do you explain these power-lifters that are thicker than shit? Besides obvious genetics. Trying to get my man, @Norida on the strength band wagon and I'm afraid I don't know a whole lot about the concept.
sugar from fruit and weight gain oceanair 21 6 yearsMrMailliw (4494): If I could afford it I would eat a variety of fruits all day because it is healthier, tastier and more convenient than rice, pasta (etc.) Fruit is awesome, you won the argument against that woman, even if she thinks you haven't.
Sugar during the bulking phase. stinkydiver36 16 6 yearsdwatson (26511): You loose micro-nutrient dense foods if all you consume is high GI carbs. And then on top of that is what EK said, plus type I & II diabetes. Is it bad? No. Should you consume them in moderation? Yes.
