Break the routine for fun haole 4 4 yearsthe1 (33860): I don't know how people do the exact same workout for months and years, or the exact same exercises day in day out lol.. every workout of mine has some fundamental exercises for progression but for the most part I have fun with my training and I always seem to hit new highs

Your rep range ?? samirsaleh 25 6 yearssamirsaleh (1957): Seems like a lot of u are under 5 reps in compound exercises. Started doing that the last few workouts and liking it, feels like it can yield the same strength gains while putting less effort, in other words more efficient.

Does rep range, hypertrophy really matters. jonrivs49 11 6 yearsjonrivs49 (3001): ^ agee.. But if all is already perfect the sport will not be that fun anymore.. Well i guess gray area of the sport is actually a good thing.
Heavy wieght 5-7 reps or lighter 10-15reps David94 12 6 yearsFiremanSi (42408): ^^This. And personally for hypertrophy i go with rep ranges of 8-15 upper body 8-20 Lower body. Reduce the tempo(i.e. the negative portion of the lift) as the reps are increased.
Striation Markovich 17 6 yearsMarkovich (595): That's exactly what I do everytime I train legs, but I said it would make more sense that isolation exercises would get you more striated (if that was possible) =)

stop the bull**** with the repranges moke912 Jump to first page31Jump to last page 7 yearseknight (58109): @cassious No it doesn't mean that. Most average people have the same ratio of fast twitch and slow twitch fibers in specific muscles. If you're truly fast twitch dominant or slow twitch dominant, you'd know by now, as you would have a career sprinting, powerlifting, running marathons or competing in the Tour de France. -3X
For all who laugh at my thread moke912 11 7 yearslukecorney (1021): this article actually isn't nonsense. people usually think rep count but it is time under tension that really matters
- Question on Progression - SRorhrbac0808 8 7 yearsSRorhrbac0808 (47098): ^True shit. I like this progression as well. I mean honestly, we don't feel the same everyday and can't progress EVERY workout lol.. But, do you think for power movements/rep ranges more of a percentage method would be more optimal?

Rep Schemes TheBangBus 8 7 yearskickinchicken (8716): @FijiSotia Im with you. Ive tried different but the same works best for me. And feels natural too.
HIT vs. Volume hurricane92 3 7 yearsAustralianOak (1504): I myself prefer higher amounts of volume but not too high. I think you have to be very smart with your training either way: for me cause I use such high volume I do not go to failure that often, or employ any types of post failure techniques apart from superdt. But if your doing HIT you need to make sure since ur doing so few sets, that ur experienced enough to be able to go way past failure. -AA
same or different? Mazy 2 7 yearsMikhail (517): Do Layne Nortons PHAT split. It works back twice a week and is by far one of the best splits ive ever been on.
Rep range for deadlifts? BWestern 12 7 yearsBaiTu (3096): Fifty? 50? Really? What weights are you using for your sets both the 3-5 rep sets and the 50-rep sets and what percentage of your one rep max are they?
make gains with low reps bosssantana 9 7 yearssickrykes (1651): @Jezza_91 he said he wants to gain strength and mass, wouldn't this only gain strength?
thoughts on high reps low weight? Massthetics 3 7 yearsAustralianOak (1504): Striations are a matter of good amounts of lean muscle and low body fat. IMO if your looking to cut, there is no need to change up your reps or weight training, what you want to do is get your diet sorted along with a couple of HIT training sessions. For best muscle growth mix up your rep ranges and try to constantly improve your poundages. -AA
HEAVY WEIGHT LOW REPS Frantic 10 7 yearsAverageJoe (4510): I'd say, tell your friend to aim for 4x10 with lighter weight with a 2-1-2 tempo, full range of motion with no locking of the arms at the top of the motion, as Weider recommend it ;P . And yeah, diet is so important. could really help for that!
Rep Range Help? WogsLife 9 7 yearsmikew (11493): Compound lifts (dead, squat, bench): 3-8. Go heavy. Complementary or supplementary lifts: 6-15. Mix of light moderate and heavy weight. You weigh 50 kg - I would focus on building strength, keeping a caloric surplus, and not on your abs. Fix them later once you have some muscle. My $0.02.
Rep range for abs. dinuman22 14 7 yearsmikestheguy (261): @quepasa your argument is supported 100% by broscience... nothing that Ronnie Coleman or Joseph Rakich says has been scientifically supported... as you lift weights you start to activate more neuromuscular motor units in each muscle... if you do simply incline bench you're not going to only recruit more "upper pec" muscle fibers and neuromuscular motor units... its a graded contraction across the entire chest in which you have NO...

Which rep range loses least amount muscle? JoJo 21 8 yearsChristf (2910): I love doing all kinds of different rep ranges. I find it boring always doing the same thing. I'll go heavy, go 6-10, 8-12, and sometimes higher. For me, training in the lower rep range does a better job at increasing my strength BUT I do get some growth if I haven't done it in a while. For example if I've been doing 8-12 for 6 months and I switch to 1-6, my muscles usually react very well and grow. Doesn't seem to last very long
