Equally divide carbs or revolve around worko anteis99 6 4 yearsEat2Trainn247 (2557): @anteis99 I second @GetFitGoFigure in that as carbs drop, I place them around my client's training schedule in order to appropriately fuel the training session and then to promote optimal carb replenishment following so that the subsequent workouts are able to be performed well. I believe that in general, whether cutting/bulking, distributing a larger percentage of carbs around training is optimal for performance/body comp

Nutrient timing.. Yes, no, maybe? MMB 5 5 yearsSedlo18 (25): I think its BS personaly. Just make sure at the end of the day your hitting your macros. I just try to keep most of my big carb meals around my workout (pre/post) to fuel a good workout. Then get my fats in towards the end of the day and spread protein evenly throughout the day.

cutting questions Ross12 3 5 yearsFrostshock (13324): Go to sleep 30/45 minutes earlier or just sleep longer. No point in interrupting quality sleep. Also as @ek said it doesn't matter if you eat clean or dirty, what matters is if you're hitting your macros every day and the proper caloric deficit. Do you know your maintenance?
Meal Frequency JoelGSK 6 6 yearseknight (58109): IMO, yes. Minimal neurological adaptation for maximal muscle fiber recruitment is 6-8 weeks. Another 3-4 weeks after that to get the most out of the full recruitment that you're now using. Blame the nutjobs at P90X for convincing people that muscles can be confused and that constant change equates to best results. -3X

Best times to consume carbs? Hiiibbbb Jump to first page87Jump to last page 6 yearsrememberthis (556): I haven't researched this much since college. This report (not research paper) only addresses protein breakdown. I don't even want to get into the technical terms after seeing how dead on you guys were on a thesis you clearly have no idea about. Unfortunately Alan is not the omniscient God you thought him to be :( You eat your chicken after your workouts. I'll keep doing my thing.
Eating after training cassious 6 6 yearsDevil82 (1240): @cassious meal timing is irrelevant, unless you are a endurance athlete then best to carb up. Regarding protein, it takes 45 minutes just to pass through your stomach and then it will absorb with a rate of 5-10g an hour or something like that. Worst case see how much protein you ate and calculate if it's enough to last you until you break your fast =)

How long after a w/o for a post w/o meal? Hewy007 3 6 yearseknight (58109): Unless you train completely fasted, it doesn't make a difference. The exercise induced GH production is short lived and not substantial enough to make any difference. Protein synthesis is elevated for quite a while after training, so just continue eating every 4-5 hours and you're fine. -3X

before bed meals KD310 2 6 yearsDanimal_88 (9760): @KD310 as long as you are hitting your nutritional goals for the day it doesn't matter if you eat before bed or not. If I plan it out right I normally have some ice cream or poptarts before I go to bed but sometimes I have to eat a lot just to make sure I hit my goals. It all depends on what a person need individually to reach their goals.
