Stubborn Calves correra911 8 5 yearsDanimal_88 (9760): Train them every other day, alternating between a 5x5 and 3x10. Look for full range of motion and a pause at the bottom and top. Follow this routine in a caloric surplus for the next 2 years and you will see some results
S O S Calves MlEqO3fo 2 5 yearscwt (10): Calves are often predominantly based on genetics, but the way I think of it is, your calves are used to essentially light, very high repetitions-eg walking- so if I needed to hit my calves I'd do heavy (8-12) standing press and then slightly lighter on seated (10-15). Give them something that they're not accustomed to. Also, try hit them 3x a week eg mon wed fri. 4 sets standing 3 sets seated.

Vibram Five Fingers help build Calves? Thisisscotty 16 6 yearsstahmz (253): I sprint (up to 600m) with Vibrams. Much better than the Nike Free that I used before. No pains from the Vibrams. However, ease your way into them for running. Switching too fast from cushioned shoe to basically barefoot will activate different muscles in your feet and it can be harmful if you don't take it one step at a time. Also, a useful source for barefoot running: I suggest reading through it.

"First, let’s sum up what I’ve covered: ■The gastroc is primarily a fast-twitch muscle ■The soleus is primarily a slow-twitch muscle ■If you do calf work with straight legs, you work both the gastroc and soleus ■If you do calf work with bent legs, you work only the soleus ■When...
genetics for calves humble_learner 8 6 yearsSwayz87 (9039): If she has Ds....Can we see OPs????
small Calves humble_learner 8 6 yearsAKK (1998): Utilizing time under tension instead of focusing on reps is more important. You can bang out a set or 12 or 15 on the calf machine in like 20/30 seconds, maybe even less. If you are just bouncing your legs up and down your calves are hardly going to get a good stimulus or even a good contraction.
