acoble02 private msg quote post Address this user
Hi guys. I'm trying to stick to a diet. I work in a warehouse where I am on my feet all day. I lift about 4-5 times a week. 23 years old. 235lbs. I am trying to cut fat. I am doing a PPL 4-5 times a week. Here is my diet:

Before work:
2 scoops whey protein
1.5cups oats

Snack:
Greek Yogurt
Honey bun

Lunch:
6oz Chicken thighs
1 banana
1 Gatorade

Snack:
2 pop tarts

After workout (varies):
8 oz meat (Meatloaf, pork chops, steak, etc)
40g carbs (mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, etc)
1 vegetable (corn, green beans, asparagus, etc)

Snack:
Whole Wheat bagel
1 serving grapes

Dinner:
4 whole eggs
8oz of naked juice

About 205p, 430c, 83f
About 3300 calories

What do you guys think of my diet? Any changes you would make?

Thank you
Andrew

Does it not get boring? Check out the FAQ sections.. that'll have everything you want to know!

Generally a reduction in calories is what you should be after for weight loss. Maybe around 1-2 lbs per week..different people suggest different things..

Go check of the FAQs and come back with any questions you might have.

I'm not a big fan of IIFYM.
I'd personally cut the honey bun and pop tarts if you're tying to cut fat. Replace with more "healthy" alternatives.

I'm also not sure you're getting as much protein as you think. I do see a lot sugar.
Honey bun, pop tarts, Gatorade, naked juice.

Nevertheless, if you want to lose fat you must be in a caloric deficit.

Are you seeing the results you want currently with this diet?

Once the weekend comes, I end up not following it so so far, I can't say. But I'm gonna try harder and I'll find out. I calculate my macros on my fitness pal so the macros should be right or at least really close. Yeah, it says my sugar is around 140-160 per day. Why don't you like iifym? @salokin

IIFYM works for fat loss/weight gain. I don't dispute that.

I'm a male in my 30's and I don't like IIFYM because strictly on a personal basis.
When I eat manufactured foods full of chemicals my body feels like junk. To each his own I guess.

I think for a beginner counting macros is a good starting point until they get a feel for how much food they actually need. Beginners to that kind of stuff typically under eat and don't eat the proper micro/macro nutrients.

Also, I would say that with iifym, people tend to think they can eat what they want. A general consensus should be a higher ratio of micronutrient dense foods over "unhealthy" foods.

So do you think that my diet (food wise) is alright if I'm following iifym?

I think you can add avocados into your diet. A research devided participants into two groups. The first consumed a meal with avocados while in the meal of the other group, there was no avocado.

Researchers started to pose questions about satiety and hunger to both groups.

The first group who consumed avocados was less eager for foods by 28 percent in the 5-hour period.

Moreover, the high content of fiber and low amount of carbs in avocados contribute to weight loss as well.

@acoble02
Are you loosing weight
-> If Yes- Diet is Working
-> If No- Change Diet, alter calories, increase NEAT, add cardio.

Only personal modification would be more protein.. i prefer 1g protein minimum while dieting, satiation purposes mainly but find it works best.

Everything is a chemical.

@acoble02 What is your fiber intake like?

I would cut everything that comes out of a package, to much processed junk. I would grab some fruit like an apple or banana to keep at work or cooler.

@Aoverto7 to much processed food, thought i made that clear in my statement. People can have bad reactions for the increased sodium and other unpronounceable ingredients i.e bloating
